Flintstones Birthday

Millions of Americans grew up watching 'The Flintstones' but it could easily have been 'The Flagstones.' A pilot with that name was shot but Fred and Wilma's last name was eventually changed to avoid confusion with a comic strip family.
The classic series turns 50 years old today and it all started with 'The Flintstone Flyer,' which aired on September 30, 1960.
Mel Blanc did many of the voices, including Barney Rubble, and it took two men to give Fred Flintstone voice, one for singing and one for speaking.
Google it and find out more about this iconic series as it turns 50, from details on the catchy theme song to Fred's classic catchphrase.
